Kala Ghoda Art District

It owes its name to the 13 foot bronze equestrian statue of King Edward VII, which was installed here in 1879 – and has now shifted to Byculla Zoo. The only horse now is the 25 foot long horse painted by Baiju Parthan on the façade of Khyber restaurant. Dotted with institutions like Jehangir Art Gallery, the NGMA, Prince of Wales Museum, David Sassoon gallery, Esplanade mansion, Army and Navy Building and Kenneseth Synagogue along with a host of other galleries like Bodhi, Museum Art gallery, Chemould, Gallery Beyond, a display of art on the pavement is abuzz with art related activities. It is also the venue for the annual Kala Ghoda Art festival.

We have a special Art district walk tour. Do ask us for details. We promise a lot of fun!
